Autumn is coming to the Meadow. First came the sudden hailstorms and then rain clouds rolled in from the North bringing drenching rains. The dry brown paddocks of late summer are suddenly bright green again, the horses graze in paddocks filled with little lakes and the wild ducks strut along the swollen creeks saying “Hooray for the rain!” The fine hair of my summer coat comes out when I roll and I can feel my thick winter coat starting to wrap around me. Soon I will look like a shaggy bear. At night we horses huddle together in our sheds saying “Winter is coming” and the dogs lie together in the stable on their pile of blankets gnawing away at their osso bucco bones. I like Autumn. It is full of good ideas. I wonder which way the story is heading!
